Winter in Mayrhofen is shaped by the adventure world of “Mountopolis” by the Mayrhofner Bergbahnen cable cars. With the action-packed Mount Penken and the family-friendly leisure mountain Ahorn, every winter guest will find their own personal snow paradise in the Zillertal Valley.

Penken is one of the most famous ski mountains in the Zillertal and delights visitors with sporty slopes, modern lift facilities and endless opportunities for skiers and snowboarders alike. Thanks to its connection with the ski areas of Finkenberg, Rastkogel and Eggalm, guests can enjoy one of the largest interconnected ski resorts in Tyrol.

One of the absolute highlights is the legendary Harakiri slope with a gradient of up to 78% – Austria’s steepest groomed ski run and a true challenge for experienced winter sports enthusiasts. Freestylers and snowboarders will also love the popular PenkenPark, featuring various areas and lines suitable for beginners through to professionals.

Leisure Mountain Ahorn

Family-friendly, sunny & relaxing

Ahorn is especially popular with families, leisure skiers and beginners. Wide, sunny slopes and cosy mountain huts create the perfect atmosphere for relaxed ski days with breathtaking panoramic views of the Zillertal Alps.

More ambitious skiers can enjoy the approximately 5.5-kilometre-long valley run down to Mayrhofen. Another highlight is the impressive Ahornbahn cable car – one of Austria’s largest aerial tramways. We also highly recommend stopping by the cosy Ahornhütte mountain hut, which is managed by our family.

Hintertux Glacier

The Hintertux Glacier is one of Austria’s most famous glacier ski resorts and can easily be reached from Mayrhofen by car or by the free ski bus.
